Thats an interesting idea sammy, it would certainly help cut down on thefts. Dont know how you could implement it though..hey maybe they could send a signal to the phone that will make the battery explode, wrecking the phone

Yeah if the phone explodes when someone is trying to make a call! Then they could sue or even better be scarred for life. Then that will teach them not to steal!

They should be able to log calls from a particular imei. They could trace the calls that person has made when and where as in form what mast... i dunno there is so much technology out there to do this stuff but if they do then insurance companies will loose out and things(future of mobiles) will have to change oh dear.

Yes if its used in a built up area/shopping centre, they know what cell its in down to a 100m circle (approx).
I know that for sure.

@sc11220 - If you were residing in Manila, your fone is good as GOLD Yes, IMEIs can be changed in minutes, but here in my turf, there is no software that can CHANGE that fone model (quite new) . . . only up to P900s - I guess . . .
The MAJOR problem for you now is if you have your SIM card on the stolen fone under plan or contract, where you have some certain-fixed monthly billing statements If ever, that can still be USED by the snatchers mate , if so, better have it TERMINATED !
I hope that your report to the proper authorities will give you some positive outcome/results . . . Good Luck!

The other problem is that your K700 will still work perfectly in any other country than the UK as things stand at the moment - the phone is only blocked to UK networks! The phone could easily be sold to someone in Ireland, France, Germany, even our JN could buy it and it would work perfectly over in the Philipines!

i had a barred E700, I could take pictures, view the existing pictures already there. view all the contacts that were saved to the phone memory etc etc. However i could not make/recieve calls, send SMS, or transfer pictures.
