Secondly, how can he format the card as FAT if the phone won't read it?
Come on the techies!
I said: "Format it in the phone..." (which the only way is FAT) "... or format it as FAT" (in windows)
Is my english that bad?
Come on xxxxxxxx !

@krubach
Your English is fine my friend, though maybe your brain is a little fried at this time on a Friday afternoon.
How can one format using the phone, if the phone won't recognise the card at all?
Anyway, all rather immaterial now that PK's tried it and it still doesn't work! Anyone willing to accept my verdict of a faulty Duo yet?
Maybe, formatting it in FAT32 in the first place screwed it?

With the card in the phone, does the phone give you the option to format the card within the control panel. Even if it cant read the card normally doesnt mean it might not be able to format it. PCs will let you format a floppy disk even if it cant read it to start with.
Sorry if you have already tried it.

Geez man... I said format the card in the phone (I don't think there was anything wrong with my statement)... it has a special DIRECTORY system... I didn't say special FILE SYSTEM. There's a BIG difference between the two. FAT, FAT32, NTFS, etc... are FILE SYSTEMS not DIRECTORY SYSTEMS
Control Panel/Other/FORMAT DISK.
Haven't any of you ever formatted a Duo before?!?!? It's in the manual ya know!

For those that need instructions for locating the Memorystick Formatting Instructions in the manual... it's on PAGE 23.

@jplacson
Blimey this is painful - are we all talking at cross purposes or am I missing something glaringly obvious?
It's nothing to do with the distinction between file systems and directory systems. Simply the fact that if the phone won't recognise the card (at all), how is one supposed to be able to format it using the phone??
@PeterKay
You want that 64Mb Duo from the HBM-30 back?!
