If not look on gpsworld forum or ask me for link for how if you want to get a soldering iron out. there's a problem on SonyEriccsons where the recharge circuit dies so I hear. Though I doubt this is the case in your case.

Thanks for the reply, ended up sending the phone off to the service centre, they said they should be able to fix it for £~50. I had a look inside before I sent it but could'nt see anything obviously wrong (although its hard to know what to look for).

Don't know. Told the women on the phone what the problem was and that i didn't have a warranty. She said it would be £47 to fix it, sounded like she knew what she was talking about. Sent it to 'ACR Logistics' in Oxfordshire yesterday, she said they would contact me when they've had a look at it. I'll let you know what happens
