Your phone is definately blocked by the networks. The previous owner has either reported the phone as missing or stolen. The only way of getting it to work is for the previous owner to contact their service provider and say that they found the phone. I seriously doubt that they will do that. You cant unlock it with a cable as it is blocked at the networks and not on the phone itself. I would contact the person that you bought it from and get him to sort it. If that doesnt work then report him to ebay and to the police.

For some reason you can still send/recieve texts on a blocked Voda/T-Mobile sim card in a phone, but O2 and Orange sims don't even log on to the network.

Yes, either this seller's bent, or has tried to be sneaky - e.g. sell the phone on Ebay, then report it as broken, stolen or lost in order to claim on insurance, not realising (or caring!) that the phone will get blocked.

Try contacting the seller - I had a similar problem with an 8310 that I bought of Ebay - told him about it being blocked - it took a while, but one day I turned it on and it worked perfectly! This may be the exception rather than the rule, but give it a try, you may be lucky

Contact ebay, they cover you up to 250 odd quid i think, also try and find out where he / she lives, u can request a sellers contact details through ebay, once u know where he / she lives report it to thier local police. If that fails ring him up every second u have spare and annoy the hell out of them

I think that contacting the seller first a being polite is a good place to start. It could have been an honest mistake made by the seller and they might be able to sort it out without getting the authorities involved.

You should first backup your phone and then perform a master reset - perhaps itīs only a malfunction in the phone app (as it seems still able to send and receive per sms) that could be fixed this way..

Good idea, but make sure you have backed up all your data! (vital)

If you have no way of doing this

Take it to a service center and have em check it out man, safer. No use just speculating about what's wrong.

Making and receiving calls is pretty important... so it's gotta work. If not, then no use carrying around ya device.

Get it fixed!!

This is the BEST IDEA!!!

ALso, do this if the master reset dont work either!

ALso, check out your settings, have you disabled calls or something (cant remember if thats a feature, long time since i owned a p800)

Regards
