I only discovered the silver edges moved and creaked *after* noticing the creaking when using the phone!

Investigation of this noise led me to find the silver end pieces had some play in them.

my hinge does not creak but it has some 'sideways movement' instead, not as solid as my Z600 hinge always was

Yeah, my Z600 was rock solid.

I'll see if the SE service centre can do anything about it tomorrow.

I might also see if they can upgrade the firmware to R1F!

@Vlamm

gadgetnutter made his post at 23:12 on 19/12/2004, so I suppose it would be since then.

Note: A complaint was received about this humorous quip and scotsboyuk's posting regulatory body has upheld it. scotsboyuk wishes to apologise for this humorous quip and he has also taken the added step of sacking the script writer who prepared it for him.

Note: The complaint about the humorous comment has been withdrawn and scotsboyuk has re-employed the script writer.

" nope the latest is R1F.... R1E is known to have a few bugs like the ones u mention..."

I'll await your humble apologies ;o)

When asked "Since when has there been a R1F", you replied

"gadgetnutter made his post at 23:12 on 19/12/2004, so I suppose it would be since then", implying it only existed from when I posted about it!...when in fact it existed in real life a good deal earlier than this.
