I went to the carphonewarehouse in liverpool and aintree and they didnt know what generic firmware was, the one in the centre of manchester said it wasnt under company policy, and i rang the one in leeds and they said it would cost £40 so i thought f*@k that and sold it.
There is a place in blackpool called eurocom which is a S.E service centre and they put p910i software on my old p900, and i wouldnt be surprised if they could do it.
Its alot of effort though, best just getting a sim free model.

Novo Digicom not there any more? I'm sure it was early this year I took a P800 there, or maybe it was last year.

Ill have another look but last time i went and enquired i was told that after they had changed name to Anovo Digicom it wasnt long after they went bust or something
Was saddened as used to go in there loads for my noki 7110 and 6310i when they first came out and as soon as new software was out i was straight there in the struggle to make them more reliable
They were good for my T65 which completely lost the plot and needed to be replaced

@kingpleb: Someone brought his branded P900 to me for GPRS configuration on his network recently. All data settings were greyed out. Nothing we tried changed that. Solution?: Sell it or get the firmware changed to the pure, unbranded thing.

yes, get rid of the voda firmware, the SE firmware is much better. If you want i will contact some people and see if there is anyone near you who will do it for you. Or you could come and visit me

I wouldnt mind popping down but i dont have my car at the moment due to an aircon problem and i dont think my dad would enjoy me trying another 2 and half hour journey to london again

That was from acton by the way
I would appreciate it if you could find someone up my way that could do it as ive been offered another one thats locked to voda and very cheap as well

compared to waht i paid just cos no-one will buy it off him as he cant get the branded software off which is a shame as the phone is so good otherwise as well.

ok i will ask some people. Basically there are specialist solutions that can completely debrand the SE phones. I have the most of these but the best is "cruiser". i will make some calls tomorrow and get back to you.
it really is worth getting it unbranded.

@AYA, If i can get this one unbranded and another one which is more cheaper than normal and stick it on ebay or the like then why not sell someone a very good phone and save them teh hassle and make some extra pannies to get me car back on the road? Everybody makes money somewhere even if its just a bit
@Gbrookes, Thanks man it will be appreciated though i dont have a clue what a cruiser and other things are but im guessing one is a complete wipe and re-install and the other is just layered on top of the original or certain parts are over written??
Thank you all again its apreciated greatly on this damp dizmle day, well here there aint no snow anyway

I was lucky enough to get a P910 for Christmas which has been unlocked from Vodafone (now on o2), but obviously I'm having the same problems as some of you guys.
I can't get the firmware upgrade via SE's site to work, even thought it says I can get a newer version of the firmware. It downloads it and is about to install when it says it can't communicate with the phone. Is it likely that this could also be to do with it being Vodafone branded?
I don't want to transfer everything over from my P800, only to need to sort it all out again later if I can get this flashed.
gbrooks3: Is it possible to get this problem solved remotely (whether via

, or from a 3rd party), or does it have to be done "in person" so to speak.
Apologies if this seems a stupid question and thanks for your help!
