Damn... I keep getting fatal error for the past few days trying to upgrade for a friend Anyone facing the same issues?

I have the same problem, used the link mentioned but still I get the Fatal Error message. I tried sometime ago and got the message "error in communication" but since then I only get Fatal Message error.

Can anyone help

This has nothing to do with your phone or pc. The site http://www.sonyericsson.com/updateservice/P910i/frameset.htm seems to be corupt.

Try to do the update via the sonyericsson support site (for me in Germany it would be 7&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10183)," target="_blank" rel="nofollow]http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]7&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10183), update service. Then it works perfectly well without fatal error!!!

Yeah I had the same problem. It seems to have some difficulty running from Firefox (even though it is a java app - go figure) it was giving the same spurious Fatal Error on launch.

I had to install Java 2 runtime and enable it in IE. It is running fine now.

Boo to SonyEricsson for making a java applet that is windows only.

I'm getting the same "error communicating with device" when I try to update my P910i (CDA 162005/3) firmware to R4. I have followed the advice in this thread but the 2 alternative links below for accessing the SE update service are out of date and the pages do not exist. Can alyone else suggest where else I can try to update my fw?
