> UIQ 3.0 on P910 possible?
Bookmark topic
I don't live in a fantasy land, It's called keeping with the times. In reality, SE really aren't going to care if UIQ 3 is going to be able to run on other phones they have produced, the hardware will not be quick enough to run it at a satisfactory speed, and UIQ 3 will be designed to take advantage of more advanced hardware in future phones, which the Pxx0 series of phones does not have.
You must be the one living in a fantasy land if you expect a brand new version of an operating system designed for a brand new series of phones to run on a predecessor.
If you were that desperate to have a phone running UIQ 3, you'd sell your already aging Pxx0, earn some cash, and get yourself a new phone from SE.
SE aren't stupid enough to make an OS backwards compatible, they are going to make sure it only works on the newest phones to ensure they all sell and they get an adequate return on their new products, and if i owned SE, i'd do the same. It's a marketing technique. Out with the old, in with the new. It's the same with most PC hardware.
You'd all be foolish to keep your Pxx0's after SE brought out a successor to this phone, as they would depreciate extremely fast. If you had any sense you'd get rid of it before SE launched a new phone, otherwise the market will be flooded with second hand Pxx0's, and yours will sell for next to nothing.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but this is what i believe.

But the sad thing is that it not seems possible to use all the apps we purchased for Pxx0 and spent big money:-(

This is an interesting point, SE *should* make all the old software you own compatible with new phones, but if you think about it, the majority of the software you buy is registered to your IMEI.. in which case you'd have to buy it again for your new phone.
Bearing this point in mind, they probably wont.

or i could just keep my p800 and NOT waste my money on a new phone just because its available
spending money on a phone when you already have a perfectly good one, now THAT'S foolish

I don't really care, once the new phone is out. I'm sellin the p910i and getting that. Plain and simple...
but only for the p910i successor. Nothing else

This discussion is just like a conversation about who likes the blonde with big boobs and who likes the red one with a brain (replace wording as you like). Matter of taste and it will not be changed by availability.

As usual, we have veered off topic and I am sure if we were in a bar, this would degenerate into a fist fight!
Back to the topic - the P910i has more graphic capabilities than the P900, and more operating memory, so theoretically, subject to the demands of UIQ 3.0, an upgrade should be possible. In the same way that older PC users with Windows 2000 can upgrade to XP, I hope this will be the case.
As to whether we should all sell our Pxxx smartphones before SE announce the new phone, that is a matter of taste and individual preference as I know there are individuals out there who are perfectly happy with their P800s even though the P910 is out and won't probably upgrade for a long time to come. I think we should respectfully agree to disagree on that one and leave it at that!
