sorry was writing that long post as you asked your question

my DEMON adsl is a PPPoA vcmux connection too and most ADSL modems/routers support that these days so it should work for you too

all the recent ADSL stuff I have installed for myself or friends allows you to put the login settings into the non valiatile memory of the ADSL modem or router so just powering it on automatically causes it to log you into your service

I don´t doubt that the Netgear is good, but i just thought i´d recommend the 3Com featured here: http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.[....]8&CategoryID=80&ProductID=1971
I have used one of these for the last 7 months or so. I was very undecided which one to get, but a nice review in a Swedish computer magazine + it was on sale PLUS i have yet to have any 3Com gadget fail on me, convinced me
Good luck with whatever you choose!

can't say I've ever used 3com but comparing specs I'd still go for the newer netgear model and at a 1/3rd the price less

one thing I did just think of... don't forget to order splitters too. The devide the telephone signal into two, one side for your adsl modem and the other for your normal telephone

Oops, didn´t pay much attention on price, over here the Netgear is the most expensive of the two so i assumed it was the same in the UK..

I guess our assumption all along is that you had an ADSL servíce? is that not the case? have you just been dialling up at 56k?

if so then yes, unfortunately that won't work for you

if it is by cable, how do you plug it into your pc?
