I just wanted to let you know that the Z1010, even though its old(and replaced by its young V800 brother), its still a nice phone.
And should still be considered as an option when buying a 3G phone.
Really both have their Pro's and Con's... here is a list that I came up with:
(this is as the phones would come out of the box now)


Z1010 Pro's:
1)Normal mini jackplug for the headset(like the Pxxx), unline the V800 where you are forced to you a SE headset(or to get an adapter)
2)Camera gives a much clearer image(very noticable during videocall), the V800 is so much darker, when your in a surrounding with poor light conditions. You cant see squad with the V800, you are forced to use the flash(works only from 30-40cm away) or to put night mode on(the camera reacts very slow then)
3)No vodafone simlock(though in switserland there is no Simlock on the V800, and its possible to get it unlocked now)
4)No Vodafone crap in/on your phone, icons, Start/shutdown-screen etc..(its possible now to partly de-vodafone the V800 now))
5)Mp3 ringtones(without to use a drm packager or something)
6)Two Camera's, during videocall when you want to show the surrounding you dont have to turn the camera. But you can just change the view with the pust of a button.
7)The camera reaction is quick and not so slow like the V800 one.
8 )Bluetooth Class 1
9)Longer battery life--> 1260mAh!!(V800 is empty in about 1,5-2 days max with its 900mAh battery)
10)The battery is exchangable with the Pxxx, so if you own both of them this can come in handy.
11)Doesnt lag during videocall, the v800 is a mess when you try to enter the menu during a videocall.
12)Possibility to put the camera sound(when taking a picture) off, unlike the V800 which makes a very loud noise when taking a picture.
13)The Z1010 appear to be better built, much more stable then the V800 witch cracks more and doesnt enjoy it when you push either sides of the silver camera bar.
14) To replace the MS Duo you dont have to open the phone like with the V800.

V800 Pro's:
1)Because of the turnable camera you can adjust it as you see fit. Like when you want to use videocall but you want to put your phone on the table, then you can turn the camera to the right angle.
2)Big LED Light and a extra button to control this light when you want.
3)262K colours internal screen, the Z1010 "only" has 65K colours(but the resolution still is fantastic)
4)Colour external screen, the Z1010 only has a monochrome screen on the outside.
5)The best MP3/Video player around today on a phone!!!(read my post on this forum about this)
6)1.3Megapixel camera, z1010 is a 0.3MP cam(VGA camera)
7)Thinner and slicker design than the Z1010, which is a bit bulkier
8 )External screen, wheren you can put wallpapers/screensavers
9)During videocall it is possible to replace your cam image, with a picture thats in your phone.
10)4x Digital Zoom during Videocall, z1010 only has 2x digital zoom during videocall
11)MS duo PRO support!
12)Possibilty to FFWD/RWD videos, this is not at all possible with the Z1010
13)New Animated menu's (first SE phone to support this)
14)It has 7MB of internal memory, unlike the Z1010 which only has about 4MB


Con's of both phones:
1) No picture caller-ID
2) No zooming in to pictures after you took them (like on the Pxxx or the S7xx)
3) Both phones are still very big (but almost all 3G phones are.)

So, if anybody sees an error or I forget to mention something then let me know it, ok?

So you see, even thought the Z1010 is an oldy, it still has some appealing points in comparising with his much younger and sleeker brother....

I own a Z1010 and am very pleased with it.

The only problem I had with buying it was the size, however, I have now become used to it, and I mean, it does have a lot of features to jam into it.

I can't test the V800 since its not here in Australia, however, looking at it, it seems to be an alright looking phone.

One thing that is a flaw in the review, is the battery life in the Z1010. It would get about a 5 out of 10 from me.

Comparing to my Nokia 6610, its just doesn't stand up. 1 week out of the Nokia, and about 3 days at the very max out of my Z1010.

Other than that... its perfect!
