- I can't delete a file that starts with a . (those files are generated en masse when transfering stuff from the mac)
I'm curious as to how you get these files starting in a . (hidden files on a Mac) onto the phone. I transfer stuff backwards and forwards between my Mac and K700 all the time and have never sent a hidden file.
What do you use to transfer? Are you sending folders of files to the phone, or a group of files? If you send individual files, or shift-select in the Finder to send multiple files with Bluetooth File Exchange you shouldn't also be sending any invisible files. The only way invisible files can be transferred is if they're in a folder that you send to the phone.

I connect the v800 with my Mac using the included USB cable. This way is faster than bluetooth, it's nice to just drop five folder on my phone and walk away, plus bluetooth makes me dizzy - but the downside is that the finder handles my phone like an external harddisk and
- places .DS_Storage files on it
- creates ._files for metadata or resource stuff
When you transfer 10 Megs it's quite nice to have USB, but the downside are all these files that you have to delete manually with the terminal. And if you miss one, they all show up on your phone. I'm often away from my computer and all those extra files take away my time, I'd just like to delete them, but no, the phone won't allow me to do this

Have a look on VersionTracker.com or MacUpdate.com, I'm sure I've seen a program that deletes these files from folders on the Mac, before you transfer the folder to the phone... I can't remember the name of the app, but its used before writing a PC format CD-ROM to avoid those files appearing on the PC...
If I find it before you I'll update this post...

Fantastic!! Thank you, Jools!
Anybody here willing to discuss which one's hotter - the V800 or the Nokia 6630?

Stop the presses! There's a huge bug in the current file manager: Sub-subfolders (like Images/backdrops/new) can be accessed, but you cannot move files into them: they do not show up in the "move to folder" dialog.
Hope SE fixes this soon, I'm planning on buying one of those 1GB memory sticks and without decent filing, they're not that usable...
