It's the charger and usually it has to do with the loose conectors. Just replace the charger and it won't be problems.

not sure how but it seems to have fixed itself and charges like it used to prior to my trip abroad, perhaps it self-adjusts but takes time to sort itself out? anyway, looks like i'm going k700i - looking forward to it!

K700i would be a good choice for an upgrade.
