oh...so you can listen to radio with the loudspeaker, but you have to have the headset connected in anycase...hmmm....wierd!

The wire in the handsfree/headset acts as the FM aerial antenna that's why it is necessary even if you listen to the FM radio through the speakers.

i have seen a similar problem with the nokia 7250.
if you move the headphones you lose the signal.
