My P910 on O2 is completely unlocked for any 2g network. It does have branding but it is restricted to the startup and shutdown screens and the default theme is O2`s own but you only have to select another theme to loose the O2 theme.

This "branding" u people r on about depends on what stock the retailer uses for their phones, some retailers eg : the carphone warehouse, use the same sim free stock (as if u were buying directly from SE website for the full sim free price) regardless of what network u choose, the sim card is seperate. So their is no "branding" on the handsets. Someone pls correct me if im wrong, but i recently bought a t630 from their on virgin PAYG and it came in the SE box no virgin crap on the phone, not even virgin mms settings! As was the same with my old p800 on contract.

Whats the best price o2 do for the P910i on contract? Wont it be more expensive than simfree?

As far as im aware the only time a brand new phone can be cheaper than sim free is if u buy it on PAYG, on any contract the phone is definately going to be cheaper than buying a phone sim free since u are contractually obliged to pay a network x amount for 12 or 18 months usually (now u cant downgrade ur tarif until some months either depending on the network and tariff). This is because many people used to buy phones on say a £75 a month contract, get the phone for free or very cheap and then downgrade the next month to say a £15 tariff and ride out the contract. Contracts still remain the most reasonable way for most people to buy brand new high end phones tho, buying completely sim free is by far the most expensive and frankly does not make economic sense to those of us whos names do not start with Sheikh, since u get EXACTLY the same thing with PAYG and contracts these days if u buy from a decent retailer. And i do mean exact same box same everything.

I personally got my P910i direct from the O2 retail shop for £100 on £35 a month tariff and it is very mildly branded. Carphone warehouse wanted £225 on the same tariff but their handset was completely unbrnded.
The phones from CPW are unbranded if you go for O2 or Vodafone but if you get one on Orange or T-Mobile then it will be heavily branded and locked to the respective network.

also if they still do their own carphone warehouse network "fresh" i believe. If u get a phone on that tarif u may pay a bit more for the phone but monthly payments r quite low, and u get a few cross network mins...but best of all the phone comes from sim free stock too!

As far as I know with "fresh" you had to buy the handset sim free at full price.
