yeah, There is potential for this technology in the future but certainly not in dialling by waving the phone around, maybe in some other way

Ok. You are correct. Let me add this, accelerometer ic is used in cars(front bumper.) as a sensor to find out deaceleration of the car and to trigger the airbags. This message was posted from a K500

Waveing the phone to dial a number can be seen as a gimmick but it is just another method to input numbers, you can still use a regular keypad or as is with voice dialing or speech to text. But you are forgeting that you can also delete texts by shaking this phone.

That also gives rise to the possibility of deleting something accidentally when using the phone, like suppose a fly comes buzzing and you try to wave it away while holding the phone and poof ! that all important text msg u were going to read is gone

MyOrigo's MyDevice had motion sensing, though not to this extent. Its not the first phone to have it.

I'm sure their is some sort of fale safe device built in,it can't just randomly start deleteing information everytime the phone shakes!

When was the last time a fly sat on your phone? ...But i do understand your point.

Yes i do recall the myOrigo phone, all that did was tilt the screen position to panorama position automatically. There is a thread on that handset here: MyOrigo MyDevice Tilt-A-Phone Smartphone

The 3220 also has an accelerometer in it too (well the case does), you can play games by tilting the phone, not a bad idea in theory...but in practise its pretty crap

I like this fun idea - surely everyone wrote their name (or obscenities) as kids using this very technique with sparklers on bonfire night?
