Nature: i've already had it switched off for ages and left in a warm, and you're right abour CPW, although there is one in dewsbury (which is closer to me), would such a service cost more than buying the seperate parts and fitting them myself?

i reckon i'll need a new touchscreen (again :rool: ), and a new keypad.

So are you taking your phone there? Did you ask about the charges involved? This message was posted from a T230

This might sound a bit stupid, but just to rule it out; When you first wiped off the screen, you could have bumped in to locking the screen. Try oressing the battery indicator in the bottom right hand corner... This message was posted from a P910

no whizzkid, i'm sure they'll charge way too much. i'm considering it as a last resort.

tranquil :

the phone was already off when i wiped it clean. there's no residue or any stains/marks on the pcb that would indicate that water got there.

and unfortunatly i tried updating it (which worked). so know i can't even get to the menu's because it's still stuck on the setup wizard!!!!

can i bypass this wizard at all anyone?

i dont know about charges, i was only there once and i dont like being treated like an idiot so i left!
i would imagine finding parts would be cheaper, but why not try ringing the centre and get some sort of idea of what they might charge. a cpw brochure has the phone numbers on the back page.

i think i may purchase the keypad first, as that could get my phone working at least (although maybe not....) but at least it will let me know whether theres a problem with it without breaking the bank (i.e. buying a new screen )

apparently i've read elsewhere that CPW will charge around £150 to fix the lcd screen on a p900

might as well do it myself

i just don't want to by a new screen if the one i've already got is not broken!!
