See, the truth is out .....
It's not Symbian after all - we've just found out your phone is Micro$oft in disguise

no - this was before the tinkering! BTW - the icon thing isnt going well. No matter what i do the icons stay! Tho there are only 6 icons changed from the original i realise that most UK network operators do the same.
Gonna keep trying tho.

That is not good news for people with branded phones. Hopefully a solution still exists. It is good to know that the icons did not cause the BSOD though.

Must be frustrating to look at the orange screen all the time.

Wait so that restart screen on the p800 is normal? 'Cause that seems to happen to me a lot. Is there some way of stopping it? Or does it require a firmware update? Oh and another thing, can I get a firmware update for free somewhere? If so, where is the Sony ericcsson update place nearest me? (Staines).

Yeah that yellow trainlgle (the TOD) is very normal! It's probably caused by bugs in your applications/firmware that haven't been resolved.
A firmware update might help. I'm sure if you do a search on here you'll find the latest version of the firmware that was released for P800 and compare it to your own. You will, however, need to take your phone to a SE service centre in order to flash it to new firmware. This should be free, though I dunno what the policy is after a year has passed (there's probably info about that here somewhere also). If it isn't free it'll probably be a nominal fee.
Your nearest centre? I'm not sure. But you live close enough to London so I imagine there'll be plenty about. I think there's a list of local service centres on
www.sonyericsson.com somewhere which should be able to help. Otherwise ask in a carphone warehouse somewhere - Searching this forum should also help you!
Hope this helps.

Thats great thanks! I live a block away from a carphone warehouse (sunningdale) but they don't do it, and they don't know whether their other branches that do do it charge.
I know I have old firmware 'cause I can't take video (Also I checked it, its the oldest

. R1 or sumthing)
Thanks very much,
Nick

@nick
CPW will do it, but as it's out of warranty, they'll charge you £30. You can book it in at your local store, who will send it off to the Repair Centre in Wednesbury (2 week turn around) or ask them to direct you to the nearest ERC (Express Repair Centre) who should be able to do it in 24-48 hours.
