@arvinsign : that's quite correct. If his imei had been blacklisted, he wouldn't get any signal. More Likely that the phone is damaged. Try flasing the firmware again.

Youre actuall both wrong. You can still text and use GPRS when the phone is blacklisted. The only thing that you cant do is make phone calls. I dont know why this is but I have experienced this myself.

Thanks for your responses I am still rowing with my service provider, and as yet they still cannot tell me if the phone is blacklisted !?!
What I have done is put Spanish Vodafone sim in the phone, I cant dial or receive calls on teh voda network but can if i select O2, orange etc.
So I like you are now of the conclusion that Voda have blacklisted the handset.
I am currently on the phone with service provider and listening to "music on hold" waiting for them to come back to me.
Will keep you updated

Still sounds as if its blacklisted as it will only be blacklisted within the uk and possibly on all vodafones.
