and the problem with csd is that as long as you are connected the people calling you get a busy signal irrespective of your call waiting settings.

@debu: Yes, the Handshaking andconnection authorizing lasts between 30 & 55 seconds, normally. But with regards to browsing speed, it's little slower than regular GPRS speeds. I use both CSD & GPRS. Much of the noise about "high speed GPRS browsing" is just that - noise.

@AYA
Indeed and also CSD is more stable, less hanging pages.
Since GPRS even WAP-pages are now often made up with graphics and as tiny they may be it takes costly time to download.
It's very strange, a plan with the free first minute. It is nice though because it prevents you from unwanted costs when accidentaly pushing the online button. In my previous plan it became cheaper after the 10th minute.

It's crazy, i'd rather pay than to disconnect every minute!

I agree with DeLa that CSD seems more stable. I can access WAP, Web & mail servers without needing separate accounts. I also quite agree with 701. When browsing via CSD, I just stay connected. The idea of going through cycles of disconnecting & connecting is so cumbersome. You waste roughly 55 seconds each reconnection.

i had a blast light night with csd - the night tariff is only 1 cent/minute so I downloaded lots of stuff to the phone. made a simple calculation and gprs would have cost me 8 times more. but, as i've said, all callers will get a "busy" tone while calling you.

If you download a lot of stuff or visit regular Web pages, I submit that you are better off with CSD. But if all you do is browse WAP - for example esato WAP - GPRS will save you a tremendous amount of money.

The idea is to browse for free when you like. On average, it only takes me less than 35 seconds for the handshake & to download a page. I can then take my time to read while multi-tasking & people can call me while i'm disconnected. Yes it is cumbersome, that's the reason why l was looking for an auto disconnect feature... beause, that's the chore that makes it inconvenient and also not free when you forget to disconnect after the 1st minute. Thanks

You have to take some pain to get things for free.

@ govigov
You're absolutely correct. I'm still searching for a "painkiller"... anyone?
