Hi,

Actually, all phones that have a built-in POP3 client, can be used on Rogers. You will have to purchase, a GPRS Data access option. They start at $30 a month. This will allow Internet access, so that you may fetch POP3 mail. If your ISP supports POP before SMTP, you may also send mail. You might even find a 3rd party that can sell you a POP3 account that supports POP before SMTO, or SMTP-AUTH, if the client supports it. Email is simply not a product that Rogers wireless sells, so therefore, of course, no-one has any information on it.

Good answer but costs 30 dollars canadian too much for such a small feature. What you mentioned is portage plus with the apn being internet.com . Does anyone have the ip for portage plus service at rogers with the port numbers? Does fido allow email. Im still not successful. This post was posted from a Nokia

Prom1, does that mean that Rogers has scrapped the idea of offering the T68i or has it just been postponed?

Any word on what their price for it would be? I'm wondering if I would just be better off to get an unlocked one elsewhere rather than waiting.

Looks like they originally scrapped the idea, however since Fido looks like tey'll launch the phone by mid-October, Rogers maybe doing the same. Montreal may get theirs first. Some private stores around Canada did actually make big on Rogers' blunder since last year and sell the T68m/i unlocked at retail prices.

Here are the GPRS Settings (sorry forgot that I posted on another forum long ago, HowardChui's under same name)

Goto WAP Profile Settings
Wap services(yes), Wap Settings(yes)
select profile you want to edit, the 1st one(yes)
scroll to Rename(yes) enter "Rogers"
scroll to Change homepage(yes), enter WAP homepage
http://mymobilehomepage.rogers.com/device.asp
scroll to SAVE TO (yes),
APN: goam.com
IP SETTINGS
select connect using(yes), the data account you want to use when browsing
"goam"
scroll to IP Address(yes) Enter the IP address of the gateway (ie Goam)
primary IP 208.200.067.150
port 9203
secondary IP 208.200.067.151
port 8582
scroll to USER ID (yes) "wapuser1"
scroll to Password (yes) "wap
[remember this is for WAP not for HTML sites]
scroll to Data Mode(yes), select Connection Mode(yes), select Connection Oriented
Security(yes), select "on"
scroll to show images(yes)--ON
scroll to response timer (yes) 150

Selecting WAP profile
WAP Service(yes), select profile(yes), select Rogers(yes) save everything restart your Ericsson or other device and away you go......Happy WAP'n

oh yeah forgot to mention to APN is "goam.com" this is for WAP, for HTML, ie the real internet using your phone as a modem the APN is "internet.com" but you must use Portage Plus on your wireless account to achieve this, ,,,really sucks though!!
Rogers as an employer really sucks! They take your ideas and dont give due credit for them. Anyway...

Does anyone from Canada use the Portage Plus service? If so can you please post the DNS numbers for email, the email providers name--from Rogers, and if so the IP addresses and their respective port numbers. And I'm not talking for WAP but for real HTML surfing,

thanks in advanced!!

http://upaapps.goamerica.net:8582/start.wml or u can try any of the other
addresses like the http://goamerica.net:9203/index.wml u need to save this
to the current profile.
note: these are the other WAP homepages for Rogers AT&T Wireless, notice the port numbers 8582 & 9203 should you have devices like Motorola V70 & A388 that require them.
