I use R2L firmware and just put the phone on silent mode which doesnt make a sound when taking a photo:-)

i never had problem with camera sound on going "silent mode"..try it..may be u'de done that by now..get ur firm ware upgraded at the nearest sony ericsson dealer..

Well the only way i can get mine silent is by doin wat mmsman said n make a phone call. Im on orange so i can just phone 450. It gives me 4mins 2play with the camera silently

When i bought it had software r2aa n camera sound could be silenced by puttin it on silent. Now i have software r2ae and still camera noise can be muted in silent mode.

Pretty sure Burgaz is correct, UK phones arent supposed to be able to turn the noise off for privacy reasons. Early firmware versions might do it but I cant turn mine off. I believe it is law in some parts of Scandinavia but dont recall where i heard that.
EDIT: I stand corrected, it does silence the noise in the Meeting profile!
