Whatever Egbert.

I think if you walked into a police station with the telephone number thats being used in a stolen phone, they may well be willing to see if its a registered number.

PhoneSecure isnt the new Batman and it wont swoop from a tall building and aprehend a theif, but its useful, plain and simple - theres no other app that I have found that can work so effectively as that.

Dont use it if you dont want to.

If you did have the theifs number and you are clever, I reckon there are ways you could establish contact and perhaps arrange to meet. Remeber I said, if you are clever.

Very clever but how will this help? Unless I recognise the thief's voice how will I be able to track it down? The police are not concerned to follow up such petty crime!

The whole point of getting the thiefs number if they have taken your sim card out is so you can send the code to the phone which will lock it. Obviously if they take your SIM card out it's useless because you have no number to send the code to, but if the app sends the number of any other sim card that has been put in the phone, you send a message to that number, which locks the phone and renders it pretty useless.

I'm sure it could easily be overcome by doing a simple firmware restore though?

Can't you just use a contact phonenumber you have copied to the phone FROM the sim. Thereby the number will still be there even if the thief changes the sim-card...?¿?
