I know that I put that pressing "*" worked, but that isn't the case. I had said this because I checked the phone (when it was working normally) and realised by pressing star that I could change the input format. I then assumed this must of been the problem (that I had mistakenly selected numerical).
But the problem it happened yesterday and pressing star only gave me a "*" on the screen. Also I opened the flip to manually select a contact and selected a name as normal but there was no number allocated to that person. I went through a few and none of them had numbers..... As per what everybody else said, when this happens it appears a restart is the only solution.
Thanks for the responses though, now I know this is a bug and not just me.
Cheers.

I have also faced this problum in my P910 number of times.... It has nothing to do with nemurical input button or so... If u see deeply you would find that the hand writing recognization software also stops working then..... and with your flip open you cannot enter any non nemuric entries......... it sort of hangs then.... sometime to the extent that the off switch stops working.... i can narrate this experence close to MS windows crashing down and showing a blue screen..... The only option left is to take out battery and reinsert it.........That is definately a bug which keeps the processor in suspended mode dissallowing it to do process any new information sent in via interput..... Although the applications work so it cannot be taken as full fledged crash case....

Can anybody tell me if this is a mistake or something I can change with a button or something?
On occasions, when I go into the contacts list in flip closed mode I will press the number three button to select contacts beginning with "e". However sometimes when I press the button it brings up a number "3" instead. The only way I can get it to return to letters is by switching the phone off then on again.
This has happened on both my P910 and P900 (not often though).
Hope this makes sense.
