I was about to post a direct link to the update site because it never used to work when you tried to do it through that page, but it would appear they have updated it and made it work! Yey for SE!

Okay, I have a bit of a problem.

I can't use the SE app because the phone doesn't register as being on!

As per a previous message on this thread, I think it's trying to boot, completeing the "welcome" screen bit and then just switching off!

It's not being picked up by the docking station.

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers

Do a Restore, instead of a simple update. I think this may work.

As a last resort, take it to a Service Center.

HOPEFULLY SOLVED THE PROBLEM!

I swapped the battery for my wifes (also got a P900) and the phone now works. When I put my battery in her phone it powers up and then immediately powers down again (although her's does do it properly with the "goodbye" screen).

So, in summary...if you have this problem, try the phone with either a different battery OR at minimum try the phone powered from the mains!

Cheers all

I had this problem for a while, but What I did is shorter the battery with a paperclip if I remember.

Try doing that then recharging the phone may work,

Drain the battery to 0 by short circuiting it and it may work.

Shorting a battery really is not a good idea.

Putting a paperclip accross the terminals could damage the battery and will most certainly strain it. If you leave the battery connected to a bulb or a resistor for 48 hours to drain it completely and do a recharge, then this should solve the problem.

This is also a good method for reviving batteries which have a shorter lifespan than what they used to have, although i would recommend leaving it for more than 48 hours to ensure a complete discharge.

Alternatively you could keep testing it with a multimeter and get it as close to 0mV as possible!

You could do that but it doesn't completely discharge the battery. The phone will not turn on if the battery doesn't provide enough power to make it stable, but even if the P900 doesn't boot it doesn't mean the battery is completely dead, there's still plenty of life left in it, thats why a complete discharge would be necessary.

Alternatively, buy a new battery, put your old one in the box, take it back, and get a refund!
