Thanks for the replies...keep'em coming! I went on Sony Ericsson's site and looked at both the K700 & 910a. Really nice phones w/lots of features. There's been some posts on the web concerning a S710a. This is supposed to be released to Cingular. What do you guys & gals think of this phone?

Both are really great phones, the p910 has touch screen, cam lots of application, email client, full blown internet browser, java games, (really good ones!) It can sync with viao, contacts, mail.... Play mp3, or movies, can be used as a modem, your friends will envy you, your wife will hide it complaining due to lack of attention....

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that you haven't actually got a mobile phone, at all! Never mind, we shall soon direct you towards a good mobile.
The S710a is very similar to the S700 with one or two notable exceptions. The S710a has no FM radio, instead it has support for EDGE. I can only give you information on the S700's features because I have had no experience of using the S710a, but I would imagine that they will be identical.
The S700's camera is absolutely top notch, the picture quality is amongst the best outside of Japan & South Korea. There is a good range of connectivity features including Bluetooth and IrDA. There is external memory support, which means that you might be able to use the memorystick duo from the handset with your VAIO if it has memorystick support. The screen is first class, bright and scratchproof.
There are other options you may wish to consider; the K700 is an excellent choice, but as far as I am aware there is no dedicated American model. The P910a is also worth considering, especially if you think you may need its many business features. The T68i is an old handset, but also a very good choice if you don't need some of the more modern features offered by the other handsets mentioned. The T68i has Bluetooth and is extremely reliable, I still have mine!

If you just want a bloody good phone thats a great size with loads of features & easy to use then get a K700. I have only been using it 2 days & already think its great!
If you want to spend a bit more & have a phone/PDA/media combo device then you can't beat a P910i, just not pocketable really like K700 type devices.
I tried to Nokia 9300 last week considering it over my P910i but took it back 2 days latter. It really is let down by not having pen input in addition to the keyboard like the old PSION Revo had plus no Vibrate function plus in closed mode its a very, very basic phone. OK for pure business use but then your likely to go for a Nokia 9500 with WiFi.

You need to list what you want to use it for us to advice you which one will best suit your needs.
The K700 also has a full HTML browser (not sure if full Java compatible) which I was suprised about & is just let down by not having expandable memory (important if you want to use your phone as a music/video player).

Seriously though, you do face a rather annoying problem, coverage. The U.S. does not use the same frequencies as most of the rest of the world, so you will need to be careful if you do decide to purchase a non-merican handset. Cingular and T-Mobile both use the 1900 MHz band, but that is all they use, so coverage may be patchy. AT&T, who have recently been bought by Cingular, use the 1900 MHz band, but they also use the 850 MHz band, a handset, which can make use of both of these bands is probably a better choice as it should work in more locations.
You will no doubt find that there are huge areas of the country where your mobile won't work because there is no coverage, regardless of the network you choose.

The K700's browser supports xhtml, it doesn't work with some webpages, especially multimedia intensive pages.
