I would like brighter keypad lights on the T230. They're too dim. :-( This message was posted from a T230

I think the color of the LED used has also something to do with the design of the phone and the color combination -- most phones are in the hue of metallic colors: gray, white, blue. I think using red in combination with these colors might not look very nice (or at least the designers might have thought so).

yeah there is a red led in the t610 joystick, but it only shows up right before the phone dies and while it is charging and the phone is off. I doesn't illuminate the keypad or anything.

I think red keys might be a little hard to decipher in the dark, but would be cool looking. Would look good on a black phone for sure.

Wasn't there an old Ericsson, something like an S888, something from the mid '90s that had red LEDs and maybe a red backlight also?

Bobafett's the man for that!

Or people just think that red LEDs are too common already and they prefer different, brighter, or more radical colors.

I don't know, something out of the ordinary; like when green and red were common, blue and white were definitely radical IMO. So if something that is out of the ordinary that comes out soon I'd say that too would be radical.
