The strange thing is, unlike Clara (k750) and the k300 etc. The pic's haven't even gotten leaked yet. This is very suspicious. Maybe will kill of this line and go in for UIQ3, S60 type devices. Considering S60 outsell other smartphones by 3 times, that should be a good move.

@Debu

No way should they change the product line. Maybe introduce a new product line for mid-range smartphones, but the P8-P9 line should stay forever. There are now many customers addicted to this line and you cant kill it: It is successful in its own market niche.

Yes they should introduce a non touchscreen smartphone (P6-7xx), but never kill the P8-9 range.

I don't like the S60 layout at all - I think it's a tacky interface compared to UIQ. I fervently hope that do not go down this route. S60 may have outsold any other smartphone UI but there are far more devices available with S60, and this may say more about Nokia's popularity than it does about the UI's quality.

Also, I am only interested in the popularity of something as a guage of whether or not to purchase it when I know little or nothing about it myself. Just because the world loves a Nokia, doesn't mean I want one. SonyEricsson represents quality and understanding technology. Nokia represents mass-market, dumbed-down appeal.

This is, of course, only my opinion, before the flamers appear blazing on the horizon.

Hi batesie....Where in East London do you live?....I live in North London....Tottenham and have friends in Mile End.

I don't think I'll bother waiting for the P1000 though.....It will probably be another 8-9 months until release, then another 2-3 months until its a bug free product when they release the firmware.

I really love my P800, but I'm glad I wasn't one of the early adopters (AKA beta testers) of it when SE first released it.

The P1000 should hopefully have less issues (hopefully SE will have learnt from past mistakes)....I think its just a bit overdue....NOW!
