What would happen if there are multiple bluetooth devices in the same area?. Whose signal strength would this function show? Many things to be sorted out if this is remotely possible!

Well, what I thought would be possible is if the device is connected to the bluetooth device, If you can see bluetooth devices it doesnīt mean that you are connected to it.

thats for the usefull input @JN
Yes bluetooth signal stength could be calulated, if its included in the software. also distance might be possible by calulating the time it takes for the signal to reach...

Found some info on the site below about bluetooth
Mantis, a new Bluetooth measurement tool from Berkeley Varitronics Systems (BVS). The product is a handheld wireless receiver designed to help identify, install and get the most from Bluetooth-enabled equipment and connections...
Mantis locates any nearby Bluetooth devices, such as printers, PC keyboards or cell phones, then identifies them and follows their frequency-hopping signature. This lets users determine the SIGNAL STRENGTH and obtain the unique identification address of each device...

Not sure I can see the point of having a signal strength meter for bluetooth! The only point I could imagine was if both of you were moving and trying to transfer data at the same time. But if thats the case why not just stand still and transfer! If you can't connect then you aren't close enough??

RSSI: Receiver Signal Strength Indicator
A transceiver that wishes to take part in a power-controlled link must be able to measure its own receiver signal strength and determine if the transmitter on the other side of the link should increase or decrease its output power level.

Could it then be possible to make such app for Pxxx?? or Maby it isnīt possible for a app, is this signal-thing something that would be need for SE to include in the phone????

Well, why I want it is because I connect my P910i to my PC and I am browsing the internet and using msn on my phone with my PC adsl.
And sometimes I go to points in my house where there is no signal
And I canīt see when I am going out of signal, so itīs very bugging!!!
Unerstand the need for it now???
