Don't think it cost us as the consumer, it would cost the network operator for the extra bandwidth used etc. though.

If the operators think it is too expensive, they should block them.
In my experience nine out of ten mobile phone users haven't even heard of delivery reports and of those that have heard of it most find them annoying.

Delivery reports are handy now and again.
I mostly use it to let me know when my girlfriend is on her way home (she has her phone off in working hours).

I think delivery reports are pretty worthless on a whole. Usually I can tell if the person got my message because they respond to it. I don't usually send random text messages that don't need replies, for that I take funny pics and send mms.

Its very possible to make delivery reports on by default instead of off.. this can be dont through a Firmwire upgrade, but I dont know why SE is not responding to customers regarding this topic.

@dilipc your theory is flawed because in MMS you can set it to receive delivery reports without needing to manually turn it on before sending the message. So if SE was so concerned about clogging up the network system they would ensure that all messaging service on the phone does not have delivery reports on as default. Also if SE really cared about the clogging issue they would have this feature on all their models not just the P-series. Take for instance the K700, the user has the option to have it set all the time, ask before sending, or never on. This simple feature should have been implemented in all the P-series, but it was not.
