> Thinking of buying an ipod
Bookmark topic
I think most people go for the iPod because it:
- is simple to use
- doesn't have dozens of features only a few % of people actually use
- doesn't baffle the user with unnecessary complexity
- works well
- uses a very well designed music managing application (iTunes)
I mean, why mess-up the user interface with details such as the bitrate of the music track, the filesize and format? Why would anyone want to know those details when out listening to music?

@DJcreamz:
I'm not your stereotypical Apple fanboy!!! I do appreciate that Apple stuff isn't for everyone and isn't always the best in every circumstance. However, I do stick up for Apple products when people make sweeping statements saying that "Product x is better than Apple product y", when they don't back it up with any sound reasoning whatsoever.
You'll notice that all my pro-Apple comments aren't merely based on personal opinion I also back them up with links to (often independent) reviews. And I also correct other people's mis-information about Apple products frequently.
You'll also notice I've never told anyone they definitely should buy Apple! I just give them the facts and let them make up their own mind!

I agree that iPods arn't the best, most well built, or cheapest pieces of hardware out there. But they are certainly the most friendliest MP3 players. Without the iPod we wouldn't have the current avaliability of digital music devices avaliable in the mass market.
Average Joe wants something simple to use. Oh, and it's gotta look cool aswell. Most other MP3 players are *damn* friggen ugly - yes, they are! With the exception of the Sony 20G player (ATRAC only) which also looks very sexy in the brushed aluminium.
