the one for flashing, unlocking, debranding is the Service cable (the one with the black box)

The other is to transfer stuff to and from the phone.

The one on the left is service cable. One on the right is data. Other than the labels, they look identical on the outside. I have these cables and have used them for the intended purposes. There is no small box thingy on either of them.

As illustrated in the guide on how to modify a data cable into a service cable, the cable may look the same on the outside but internally it wired differently.

Therefore there are two different types. The one with the rectangular box is known as a Fighter (service) cable and requires drivers.

The 2nd type is a data cable externally but modified internally into a service cable.

I hope this clears this mess up now!
