Also flashing ur phone will enable u too have the extra applications provided in the unbranded version of the V800(Z800). Such as sony Megabass

Yep...baisically ur phone will be a Z800...and one of the differences between the two is that the Z800 is made to be a music player. So it has a 1 touch button to take u to ur music, megabass(which supposedly increases ur "music experiance")

well, i keep reading about people constantly finding bugs in the new firmware, so i'm wondering if i can live with the branding (although without mp3 and mega bass). as long as i can manually adjust the WAP, MMS and e-mail settings to my US network, i don't really need the flash... i don't think?

Well I mean the firmware everyone is talking about is constantly being upgraded...from your prespective I would say...Wait the 2 or 3 weeks(thats when it is rumoured that the z800 is being released) and then upgrade ur firmware. Then they will be using the official firmware from the z800 and there will be no bugs.

If u are happy with the firware u have, don't bother to flash the phone.
If u want the latest, or have found bugs in the current version on your phone, then flash.
Firmware will almost always contain bugs...its like Windows...but its not as prone to bugs otherwise the manufacturer would lose business.
My adive though is flash the phone with the generic Z800

firware to get the most out of your US network, that way u rule out any potential nasties from Vodafone.
