Well, 90% of networks have Cell Broadcast (or area info - whatever you call that) active on at least channel 50 - its a location info that is usually displayed in standby mode.

To test it -> go to Control Panel, Messaging Accounts, Area info, hit 'new', select channel 50, select 'area info'. It should work - once a while you should receive a message with your current location.

Some operatorators provide more 'useful' channels - CB info is usually available on CB 0.

How often do the Networks send these messages?

Should u expect one a week, one a day or one every time ur in a new area etc?

I think O2-UK's channel number is 200 - I set my P800 to that, and got a Vodafone-style cell info display below the network operator logo with the 4 nearest dialling codes to me in it. I however didn't recieve any messages at all.

Just set 200 & I got the 4 area codes.
Problems:
It doesn't tell u which area each code is for.
It only shows in flip closed (no use to me). I just had to turn the v.flip on just to see if it was there.
