Try flashing the phone without the memory stick...vica versa...

re-flash with R1J002 you mean? But without the MS in the phone?

Yea...see if it works. If it does work not then its a hardware problem. I flashed my V800 to R1X011 with the memory stick and it still works fine...

update!
I've reflashed R1J without success, and later falshed with R1X and still no success but I now finally know what is causing the problem
When the phone is connected to the computer with the USB cable and you're transfering files via the 'removable disk' option on the PC, your PC is dealing with the memorystick, not the phone. For some reason this is the point where the phone loses all contact with the memorystick.
Unfortunately I have no solution for this though

but at least I now know what the culprit is

you should use the eject disc option in the removable disk menu then, this will decommision the MS properly so it is reset ready for use in the phone.

yes its perfectly normal.... if u plug ur V800 to ur pc with usb... u cannot browse thru ur MS using ur phone... coz the pc is already using it... so u can browse it there... if u unplugged the usb then u can browse thru ur MS using ur phone...
one problem i face rarely is the phone loosing connection with the MS.. sometimes when im playin MP3 and som1 calls... after call ended.. mp3 stops and cannot be played.. i just have to take out the MS and put it back in.. and it will play again as per normal...
to look at it.. its perfectly normal.. its a machine.. it somtimes lags downs.. espacially me havin 512MB and only 17MB left.. my V800 is fully loaded.. so i dont really mind the lil malfunction..
unless it happens regularly than 1st thing to check is possibly the MS not the phone.. meaning is to check it using another V800, not a PC or laptop or another different phone.. coz obviously they hv different processors...
