I don't use the SIM Swisscom, the company where i've bought the T68i, i use a Sunrise SIM...
I think the accounts are stored in the phone in some kind of ROM...

I've had my T68i for 4 days and I am having the same problem. I'm on T-Mobile and BT Internet and I loose both of them if I turn off. I'm having to keep my phone on all the time so I don't loose the data comm settings. Ericsson have got to recognise the problem soon!
I will watch this thread for updates and get in touch with Ericsson myself, strength in numbers and all that!!:D

Here, I gonna share my knowledge though i'm not an expert.
As i 've ever heard, this is becuz your network operator applied the sistem that automatic setup the configuration of the data account by OTA (Over The Air).
Not all operator apply this sistem.
So, everytime when you switch on your phone the configuration of your data account will change to the setting as your provider setup.
And also some operator apply their SIM with small application which called SIM Application Toolkit.
But I prefer say this problem comes from OTA issue.
To you as user this is the problem, but the operator said this is the benefit.
Cheers!!!

Hi
I would go with that except my situation most definitely proves otherwise:
I have a previously T-Mobile T68i, complete with T-Mobile settings (I know what they are as we had to manually hand-program 500 handsets for T-Mobile with the WAP/GPRS settings at work!
I have never had a T-Mobile account, the handset is unlocked and flashed with the latest software and the only SIM card I use is for my O2 contract account that I've had for ages. When I power off the handset and repower it, the settings are restored back to the T-Mobile settings which leads me to believe that there is no OTA settings being obtained. If there were then I would get the O2 settings which would solve all my problems!
It seems that when the handsets are operator customised some settings are hard-coded (outside the control of a normal user) into the software. I flashed the phone but have a scary feeling that when it was flashed it re-flashed the T-Mobile custom settings. Someone I have spoken to (a wireless technology specialist that contracts for a UK network and is fairly important therein ) says that the practise of locking up a handset in such a way is illegal (not in the law breaking sense, but in the acceptable behaviours of network operators etc) but because you can change the settings once it is powered up and use your own they may have circumnavigated this requirement.
I suppose it is convenient for the operator in that if someone messes up their settings they can be fixed with no intervention although it means updates are impossible to implement for both the operator and the customer. Whatever the situation, whether it is a feature or a glitch I know for a fact that the solution cannot be rectified without a software update.
HTH a bit!

I regard it as a glitch, part of the appeal of a WAP phone is to be able to collect your emails, and to go through the SE config's everytime you turn your phone off is just crap!
If I had known about this it would have seriously effected my choice of phone/ network. As i understand it, it is a combination of both that causes the prob.
I hope SE agree with its customers that the networks shouldn't do this and issue a SW update, the customer is stuffed because you have committed to a 12 month contract and you're stuck with the phone until you can upgrade.
Gutted.

Hi!
I have the same problem with T68i bought at ERA GSM - polish provider. At SE service point they told me that this mobile could be exchanged (at ERA) If I find this "improvement" uncomfortable. The funny thing is that when I called ERA they told me that it's something wrong with this particular phone and I should contact service point. LOL

Hi All,
Ive experienced the same issue on numerous occasions,
This Issue Only Occurs on Firmware R2E006 however it doesnt seem to affect all T68i (or upgradeded T68) on this Firmware.
On a Better Note , I have some Good and bad News for ya all........
Good news First .... SonyEricsson Are Aware of this issue and have put a fix in the Next Firmware upgrade (think its going to be R2F)
Bad News .... the Next Firmware is not due to be released till September
Hope that cheers you all up a bit, i was one of the lucky people that Firmware upgraded from T68 to T68i and didnt get the problem ... Just for the Record my T68 was an orange UK locked one ..!
Regards

Hello,
If any of you guys are running into the lost data accounts issue, please e-mail me your MFG date "gdaswani@pocketbuddy.com".. I'll compile a list..
Please e-mail me your Firmware version, MFG date
to check your MFG date (similar to the T39)..
------------------------------------------------------------------------
To check the manufacture date of your T39, look at the bar code under the battery, near where the SIM Card is inserted. The manufacture date is in the format xxWyy, where xx is the year of manufacture and yy is the week (e.g. 01W48 = the 48th week of 2001)
