My mate had problems with o2 texts but he just changed the sms option from GRPS to GSM and it's working fine now.

You'll find they don't. They might be in the same series but they definately DO NOT use the same firmware. There's plenty of aspects through all of SE's phones where the firmware is the same but no two models use the same firmware.

What about a K700i with a Tesco SIM in it.They are are a virtual network using O2.The only problem i have is with some GPRS services.

it doesnt sound like a total recall just a recall for those who are having issues and are phoning there customer services to complain.if your not having problems i very much doubt you will hear from o2, a product recall is a last resort as it is a very expensive process.
good to see they have given a wider range of phones to chose from but no consilation if you only wanted the k700 in the first place

The recall is only for K700i's with a problem receiving text (which affects about only 1% of K700i's sold. This problem has been solved with a firmware upgrade and the K700i's will be sold again on O2 mid march

The Reason for the problem with the text is that o2 uses a different way of sending text messages than any one else and that the server doesnt seem to be reconising certain things.
You can do a temp fix your self which does work.
All you need to do is ensure your phone is switched on, then remove the battery and sim card for 1 min. Replace the Sim and then the battery.
You will notice that the screen will remain blank for a couple of seconds then continue to boot.
This will resolve the text issues as this reboots the phone and also sends a message back to the network saying that your back.
This is also the case with Vodafon S700i, I have recently noticed that a few of them keep getting corrupt textmessages After speak to voda and not getting through to them at all, I did the same as above on the s700. hey presto the fault went.
