> K700: calls+gprs problem

I have the same problem with my T630 when used a BT modem .. but the SE support site said it as a problem with BT modem driver and it gave some tips to modify the driver file ...but after that sometimes call comes and other times the calling party can only hear a infinite silence ... i think we can receive calls during GPRS if we connected via a cable ...just my observation

Those of you with phones of other brands, does it happen on those too?? At the moment i'm at peace with it coz very less( negligible
) people ever call me but still it shouldnt be there. Maybe i should mail se and receive their views on this...

When you are in a NOM II network (Most networks are, except in Denmark and Norway, they are NOM I) all SonyE/// phones are class B phones.
This means that the phone is attached to both GPRS & GSM Services but that it can only operate on set of services at a time (see 3GPP 02.60 ch 5.4.5).
Having a packet transfer going in a NOM II network (eg a Temporary Block Flow) the spec says that you MAY listen for paging but also that doing so may degrade the performance of the GPRS connection and that it may cause failiures in an application using that connection.
So, having a download/upload of a large E-mail/MMS or heavy GPRS usage with a laptop, it is not out of the ordinary to miss calls/SMS'es as long there is a continuous TBF. When a new TBF is establsihed, the MS might listen for pagings according to nomrla procedures and calls get through again.
Using WAP however, TBF's are normally very short since not a lot of data is transmitted.

I use my phone with a notebook via infrared and i can recieve calls ,mms and sms while downloading via gprs

The call is rejected if received at the exact same time when data is being downloaded. Even if you have a download in progress and progress being displayed, the phone may not necessarily be receiving data as due to slow gprs connection is sometimes lost with server. I posted this in an other forum as well...even there some people reported having noticed the same thing. I still dont know if its an se problem or something with all classB gprs devices...i'm guessing its an issue with all phones perhaps.
