Can't stand Nokias. Horrible phones IMO with cheap covers, poors screans and old UI. They seems to be dying down around here despite being quite popular at one point but I used to know loads of people with Nokias but now I know only a couple. Can't say I know loads with SE's though but the market seems to be widening here but I have noticed a sudden rise in Motorolas. Can't understand why because IMO, they're absolutely terrible and some of the worst phones on the market.

The only reason I went with SE was because I liked the UI ,which is similar to my old Panasonic, and never hear any bad things about them. I love my K700 now and I have a feeling I'll be with SE for quite a while now.

Most of their phones? None of the SE phones launched in India has EDGE. :-[ That may be because Europe still is the primary market for SE where EDGE is nonexistent! This message was posted from a T230

umm sorry but why is it small?
i mean imho k700's screen is very small and 6230i's screen is about the same size but square, and if you are talking about resolution then nokia wins with 208*208, imho 6230's screen is one of the best i saw in small phones....


it is small. having owned both at the same time, its square and small!

Then maybe verify your sources. EDGE is in many countries in Europe, and kicking. Been doing 128kbps video streaming with my 6230, in Europe a few months ago. Try to do that with any phone. Try to make video streaming with any phone to start with... I've been able to do video streaming for about 2 years now. Was looking at TV news on my old NGage while commuting on the tram/bus.

As to being innovative, it certainly is design wise, but technically, certainly not:

Innovation means bringing *new* ideas forward, and driving these.

Let's take a look:
- Took them ages to have memory cards in their small phones
- Took them ages to figure out what an MP3 player is
- Took them ages to have video/audio streaming (while Nokia has had that for ages, and in small phones e.g. 6230)
- Still dont have multislot in uplink
- LGE, Samsung have 5Mpix phones... and 2Mpix before , and also with flash.
- was not quite the first with WCDMA phone
- still doesnt have EDGE but in 2 devices...
- They havent quite invented the PDA phone
- Etc etc

Seriously what has made that nobody had made before??! Absolutely nothing.

is not an innovative phone maker. It is an average small phone maker trying to differentiate themselves with typical and good looks. Feature-wise they are not at the forefront, far from that.

superG is you are saying that SE isn't that inovatiatieve i must agree. SE lives on the inovations and old prototypes of ericsson.
but they did to some special things.
bluetooth headset with caller ID (hbh-200 and hbh-660)
first phone with long range bluetooth
they have the most powerfull battery's
P800 the first true smartphone
and many things more.

i don't think SE will become number 1 in the next 2years. they don't have the guts (cruel, but true) nore the power (logistics, ability to produce xx number of phones) to come number 1. sure they are seen as the best brand, but it would be much nicer to see that they are the best selling brand.

SE needs a special team to get them to the top. if SE would ask a few of us esato members to work for them and to create such a team that we can make there phones even more perfect, more inovation and have a wider range then i'm 100% sure SE could do it.

They may be of same width. But K700 is longer and that makes a big difference (if you have a chance, go to a store and look at them simultaneously and you will understand).

Video streaming is very poor with Edge due to very low bandwidth. During comming years people will go more toward UMTS in europe, not edge. Number of edge networks in europe are still very small (umts is growing more than edge). During this autumn, the first comercial UMTS hsdpa network will be launched, which is 10 times faster than current UMTS. Edge will be reduced to a technology for the country side where there may not be any economical benefits to use UMTS.

UMTS is the future. Not edge (its old by now).

I guess it will still be a perennial lead position for - Nokia ! this will take some more years until or other major celfone giants will be able to grasp on the top spot . . .. not yet, not yet - !
