they're actually working together to develop a system for 'over the air' firmware updates, which means you won't have to go to a service center. Sort of like Windows automatic updates

I am with O2 and mine worked fine, although O2 has minimal branding compared to Vodafone.

where did you hear that?
also, my point is that if a service centre can allow firmware upgrades for all branded phones, then why not online service update? it makes no sense.
Are you sure vodaphone allows update service because mine doesnt

No, Im not angry with SE. Its just that I dont understand why this system works this way.
Someone said they could update it on vodaphone but on mine it wont. even though there is a newer version out there.

Sorry it's not over the air updates, it's a standardised online updating system they're working on
my mistake.

There is nothing that they can or will do. They will tell you to just take it to a service centre. But given that most of them treat your phone like dirt (one also damaged mine), its ver inconvienent

,Sharp,Samsung.But never liked it.Instead hated it so the last three phones is unbranded buys and I plannin' to do so as long as my wallet affords me to do so.

whats the lastest firmware for an O2 phone? I've got r2l but it wont let me update saying my operator has no updates. Even when i had the phone sent off it came back with the same firmware. Useless O2.
