a lot of (european at least) operators are currently shutting down reception of sms from other providers who dont pay them... or dont pay them enough (or simply dont have a roaming agreement with them)

Can anyone bail me out here::: I can recieve text messaging on my phone from States and he has t-mobile and for some reason he can't recieve my text messaging and I have orange as my provider. Is there anything that I should be doing from my side here.

here in belgium (using base) its is not posible to send to alot of country's only the neigbours and a few other.
but whit mobi* en proximus here you can send to almost all of them

i'm in the UK and can sms most places for free using o2 payasugo.
there was another post where stampid from Montreal, Canada asked to be sent an sms, this worked fine sending and receiving:

for North America the number should be entered as +1 212 0000000
(+ represents 00, obtained by holding down 0 on your keypad, 212 is the area code, followed by the remaining 7 digits of the phone number)
example numbers:
UK: +44 7960 000000
Germany: +49 1702 000000
Switzerland: +41 796 000000
from the example, if you dont write numbers in international format when you roam in Switzerland from the UK you could end up dialing a local mobile user with the same phone number as a friend.
