So for us edge users in India, we have no choice but Nokia. So stupid of SE not to launch an EDGE handset here! 3g is still a distant dream here. Even if its launched any time soon, the high tariffs will keep people away for some years. Edge on the other hand is hot stuff here and Nokia is making full use of it! I'm disappointed. :-( *sigh *

Operators in Norway offers EDGE and UMTS but operators in Germany for example will offer UMTS only.

Today I've met one se guy from my country, we discussed a bit and we agreed that se is orienting more to UMTS markets, what is a shame because for example Slovak market is small, but 2,5 million from 5 million people are covered by EDGE and only choice for us are nokias, one motorola model and se GC85 - which is bestseller. Logically other se models would be also. MikLSP, u can never understand this hunger for EDGE enabled phones... 3G is announced in 2006 and just for tests... only choice for me to be connected is mobile internet because I travel a lot and difference between 5kB/s gprs and 18 kB/s is wonderful...

Gprs and Edge is the cheapest way for internet access in India. Infact, edge is even less expensive than a standard dial up connection!

Yup a very stupid move by

not to have edge enabled handsets...a mistake big enough to lose a lot of customers...a big fan like myself included now that s60 phones have moved away from crappy class6 gprs and started supporting edge

If you buy GC95, you will get a combined Edge/Gprs (quadband 850,900, 1800, 1900 MHz) + UMTS (2100 MHz) PC card. Not bad. But probably more expencive as well (price not known yet). Will be out in Q3.
