They only have a limited number of numbers (510) (not contacts as they say, but numbers! - which sums up to around half that given that most people also have a landline and a gsm phone).
They remove the simple thing on S700i: the clock. Is that SO HARD to put an option to as in the k700i?
That's why people don't choose SE in general. Most people are not interested in a 1.3Mpx camera, or how much memory does a phone have. They are interested in it performing well the most common of functions: calling, having a long lasting battery life and few gimmicks (like the clock on S700) & the phone to look ... cool.

I know. I. I never said SE wasnt successful. I was looking at global market share and popularity of their phones world wide.

Firstly, from what I know, camera phones are popular and increasing by day. There are studies that prove this.
I agree with the issue about the mobile phones main purpose. i.e. to make decent calls, decent battery, reliabiltiy issues etc.
The problem is with many SE phones, is firstly, poor battery. Many experts believe SE are the worst offenders for bloated battery life claims. Some of the quoted figures by SE, are riduclous.
Reception of phone has been big problem. Ever since SE used internal antennas, they havent done a good job with it and experts have raised their concern on this matter many times, i.e. on mobile burn.com, the guy beleives SE have done bad job on internal antennas but K700i was a imporvement.
SE have too many firmware revisions, too many bugs etc. Have you seen how many firmwares have been updated for K700i? Incredible. and for a lot fo their other phones too.
Call quality isnt the great IMO generally compared to other phones.

In western europe SE is in the top 3 (2nd in a few countries too), and given the fact that it's a new company, and they've been mainly focusing on western europe, I think the results are quite brilliant!
You can't do well in all markets from day 1, you have to build your market step by step, so watch out, SE will increase their market share in the future in other markets too!

Yeah, Motorola has this huge marketshare mostly because of their sales in America, Samsung and LG mostly because of their sales in Asia and Nokia just sells good everywhere.
If you would look at the figures in just Europe it would probably be ranked Nokia, Samsung or SE and then the others.

for me this argument just doesnt work for 2 reasons, 1 se aint trying to be a niche brand if they were we wouldnt see mid range phones designed to compete with the nokia and samsungs
2. companies like ferrari make hugh profit margins per car often 5x what ford make per car so dont need to sell as many
se aint making huge margins per phone infact they are a little below the likes of nokia and samsung in profit margin per phone.
thats not to take anything away from se who are doing well and are at least heading in the right direction and do seem to have a seens of purpose which is more than can be said when looking at other companies in the sector
