buddy mp3 is on the way out! Well not fully, but AAC does a better file size for same quality as most MP3 codecs, but I haven't tested them all by any means.
To encode in AAC there have been mentioned here already Nero 6, dbpoweramp and itunes.
You won't get much more compression out of mp3 before it starts to sound shite. 96Kbps is the lowest you'd want to go, which seems to be comparable in sound quality with a 64Kbps AAC track, which is smaller in file size.
So leave your MP3 for the W800i!

I find 96 really on the point of acceptable/bad; it depends on the kind of music. I use 128. Tracks are 2,5-3 MB. It leaves me with half an hour (and some free MB) of music to have some self-chosen noise when there's no reception on the radio.
For me there remains a difference between flash-players with anything below 20gb and ipods or players from another brand with 20gb or more: with the first you'll spend time administrating your space, with the other you pump your complete collection onto it and you choose whatever you feel like at the time. For both you have to invest time but to put it all on but for the +20gb players you have more return.
That's why I'd prefer some kind of bluetooth solution so you can play the music on your ipod or whatever through the phone so you can answer it when a call comes in. Or the other way round.

I do it occasionally.
But it is an extra gadget to carry around, so I agree a music player with BT isthe way to go.. There is a SE bluetooth music player, it takes up to 128MB MS duo cards, and mutes the music when a call come in. However the mike is in the body of the player and can't really be worn on a lapel (to heavy). And 128MB is too small.
Good news is that for a sony relate product, it actually supports mp3 as well as Sony ATRAC.
But nothing as yet I have seen that is a BT 20GB plus player.....

I went to dbpoweramp site but didnt find the encoder to make mp4 from audio files or to make mp4 from mp3 files. There is a codec that available to change to mp4 but from other type of file. Anyone can show me the link to download proper code 4 dbpoweramp? Thx

However you could also use the mp3Pro route as I do for my music on my s700. It is beter than mp3 at lower bitrates without losing much quality and I find that the files are the same size if not smaller than aac files.

When will people realize that k700i/s700i, and even the new k750 and w800 for the matter, DONīT DECODE MP3PRO, hence, thereīs no advantage of using it, it will be just like a simple low bitrate mp3.
Even in your pc youīll need a special player or codec for taking advantage of mp3pro...
