When you say your service provider doesnt allow it, does that mean that their system
automatically removes any 'withheld' part from the number from their system or does it mean that
they cannot instigate it on individual accounts?

If they say it removes it from any phone withholding its number then I would think you have to change your phone provider if you want to go 'private'.

Start muttering about your human rights and your right to privacy ! if they say its just
their polcy and no one has private number then you need to change providers.

my servie provider used to allow having pravate numbers earlier but suddenly one day they changed their policy and stopped the private number service. So people who got the service activated earlier are ok and their numbers are still private but for any new people they just dont alow it..............
what can i dooooooooooo???????

you are in uk like me,

all you have todo is put 141 infront of the number nothing else, just as when on a landline.
This was one of those government initiatives a few years ago, all networks and land line provides must have this ability
