Well they would, the operating system is removing the apps it doesn't have access to. If the apps are saved on the memory stick then they can't be read when the stick isn't there.
I think it's set up to search the memory stick for apps every time a new one is inserted.

I do this also and have never encountered any problems. Kocking on wood.

Well I still think it's a bad idea. Just because they are technically hot swappable doesn't mean you have to hot swap them.
The guy's phone obviously doesn't like it or the OS wouldn't get confused about installed apps.
Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I always like to think 'better safe than sorry'

They say, that its build do hotswapping, so theres no problem...!!
Just remember to close any running programs, on the MS before you do it, then it cant harm anything !

No problems with hotswapping on my P800 ever.
But it is advisable to install all apps on the c: drive and use the duo for storage of vids, mp3's, pics etc. as was said before.
If you're running out of space on your c: drive (i would suggest to leave ample space for the os to be able to operate in a timely fashion) and have to install on your duo's then remember to kill every app running from your duo before swapping them.
Turning the phone off everytime would be terribly annoying.

Technnically you are meant to turn off the handset prior to removing the MS (read the manual), but as people have said, you can hot swap them, it's simply, if you do you take the chance it'll either corrupt data, or the MS.
But I must be honest, I regularly do hot swap, on both my P910 and S700, and i do find i sometimes have issues with the S700.
What tends to happen is, if for example, you have an mp3 saved to the MS, and have set it as a ring tone, if you pop the MS out, and back in again, the software does not reset the permissions to the MP3 on the MS, and you need to reboot the phone to reset the permissions.
It all depends on how the software addresses the MS memory, and although you can remove it, it does not always mean you should.

I have several programs installed on my memorystick... - in fact I try to install all the programs on my memorystick to get as much free memory to the phone so that it can run faster...
I didn't close the running aplications so this must be why it got messed up...
One of you write that he hasn't turned his P900 off for over a year! - may I ask what you have installed and how youre settings are because if I don't turn my P900 off once a week/fortnight it gets very slow and hangs...?¿?
Have you in that year newer had the problem of not being able to use handwriting with stylus...!!!?¿?

I have just read the P910i and p800 manual and nowhere does it say to turn the phone off before removing or inserting the memory card. It does say to in the S700i manual though.
