There is a code to set english as default language. Something like *8888* or something like that. (I think) This message was posted from a K500

Got it updated, ok, this is encouraging! Now the reason its still in Chinese is that its probably the default language, it likely being a P910C. If you could get through the language menu, english may or may not be there. If not, its back to the SE site (and to the previous posts above) to download the language you need.

I am assuming that after the update, your organizer version can now match something on the SE site.

Keep us informed....and good luck.

the code doesnt do anything....
right, i downloaded the firmware of SE installed it on my phone, phone restarts, but i dont get the option to choose any language, its already in chinese....so since none of the codes match up, i downloaded the best matching one, and when i go to the downlaod language thing from the suite, it searches for the languages, and cant find any ( ??? )
so i just went in the directory and double klicked it, and it installed on the phone since its a .sis file....after this, the names of the things within the menu are in english, so i found my way to the language selection and choose another at ramdom ( since that was still in chinese ) and t was uk english, so thats a step forward....and as u may have noticed, that doesnt solve it all since there are still things in chinese! like handwriting recognition, and the lunar calender ( ? ) and some other things...but since i reinstalled firmware, why the hell cant i choose a different language, or just choose something for that matter????( like i said, chinese from start, no choosing of language )
i went on SE again and checked what language pack there are under all the different P910x > none will match correctly with my organiser version...and the P910c doesnt have any softwae whatso ever for languages......the best matching code is: CXC162041 R4Axx
when i check thesys info on my phone ( edit, sys info...) it says this:
P910i
SE mobile communications 2004
symbian ltd 2004
UIQ tech 2004
Phone: CXC162042 R4D006
Bluetooth: CXC162028/1 R2F
Organiser: CXC162044 R4A02
CDA: CDA162005/11 R4A02

so my phone has to be a P910i....but i have no clue what to do anymore.....suggestions?

the CDA 162005/11 is Taiwan version of P910i though. Try jog dial down, 0000, jog dial up and see if it let u change back to english. In my experienced, the taiwan version still included english and wat u need is check at the language at the control panel. well, i forgot u don't know how to read chinese -.- try to use your friend's P910 and follow the direction to the control panel.

hope this help....

Hi Darkcloud,

Did you ever get this resolved? I just got a P910 from Tiger Direct, and it's all in Chinese I would love to convert to english rather than send the phone back....

Thanks.

Hi gents, I work for a mobile company in South Africa, last week a friend of mine bought a SE P910c from China and I got to change the language to english, Since we have direct access to the SE server, I downloaded the Hong Kong firmware and then installed the the US english language pack and it worked, so I suggest if you can download the Hong Kong firmware then you would be able to load the english language pack, hope this works for you, if only you were any closer to me I would have done it for you.

well, i tried many different things,,,even though of loading a backup of a phone with different version of FW on2 my phone, which never got so far cuz the guy who was to back up his phone for me never did it...but after having updated my phone of SE, not only was the language still screwed up, but after a day or so the audio player ddnt do jack either....i got sich of it all, so formatted my MS and did a master reset, and what do u know....i got a screen which i had never seen before, eventhough it was all still in chinese, there was an option to choose between 3 things, and i went for the first, selected it and went on, and burst my bubble, its in english....so far the audio player still works, and i also noticed that the phone is faster, asin menus and such...and there was also a fix in the screen, cuz before the point where i'd put the pen and where it would 'mark' were a little off...but now its good....
if u need any more help, just reply and ask!
