Does edge or 3g cost significantly more than gprs per month? This message was posted from a S700

Hey - I'm not complaining, I'm just surprised that there's not an SE phone out there that does those 3 things already, I can't be the only person who'd buy it if there was!

Still - the feedback here is useful, so thanks to all!

I have had a P800 on Orange UK since 2003 and am looking to upgrade. However it seems there is no phone out there that has the three main features I want;

1. PDA functions same/equal to P800
2. Megapixel Camera
3. 3G capabilities (I'm not interested in downloading wallpapers, or music videos but using my phone as modem for my laptop and using the phone with 3G access for email would be of great use!

How come there's nothing on offer in the UK (on any network) that has all three, I would have thought it was probably a very in-demand spec?

Can anyone suggest anything?

I'm tempted to get a P910i because my P800 has been great, but the camera is lacking and there's no 3G.

The Nokia 6630 is pretty good (soon to be followed by the 6680) in terms of camera/3G, but it falls down on the PDA functions.

This is so frustrating!

there is a phone that you might like is the motorola A1000 its a 3g phone and a symbian operating system and use it as a modem and its free on a new contract check it out @ http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=117074 it looks like really cool phone and pda.

i hope the programmers can program this into the next firmware update:
1. Allow you to assign a different shortcut to the internet button. (i know theres a program for it, but i want it to be built in the phone).
2. Have EXIT options for all their programs. (Again i know theres programs like sman and taskman to force a memory flush, but i want it built in)
These are not ridiculous requests, i mean, i wish it could trim my nose hair too

Hey Robot Boy!

Dont take the comments here to heart, i feel the exact same as you and i want to stick with

I also have a P800 and am wanting to upgrade..... im looking at either the p910i or a s700i.

I use my phone for uni and mostly the mp3 player...... but since i can only use a 128mb card its a bit limited to say the least.

But yeah..... im in the same situation as you buddy!

Goodluck on finding a phone thats for you!

err guys.. dats why ders a marketing twits in every aspects of cellphone development wheres delaying innovation and diversifying portfolio took place.. yeah sure SE could make a badassmuthafackingphone wit everytin you guys ever wanted.. fast ARM processor, large Ram.StorageWIFI3MpixUIQyounameit

..and after that? SE would lose in the next game coz theyre alre dy spit out latest tech into their gadgets..not to mention high production cost resulting from expensive cam modules etc etc .. if im Miles Flint.. i will play the waiting game to get my raw materials cheaper over time. i believe they already done this with the P800. a phone ahead of its time.. a maximum
breakthru and after that what? p900? p910? lol same phone little innovations.. Pseries are expensive because theyre ahead of theyre time...

wont you agree?

If SE did all that and made such a device, they would not need to worry about the next genneration. They'd be sitting pretty for a long time plus they'd shift shit loads improve their image shit loads win over customers from other brands increase market share.

Why wont a company want all this?? Well i'll tell you they dont do it because the resources it'd take to get this product to market would mean to remain profitble would mean a £900 price tag. It's a joe public assumption that companies hold technology to rip off the consumers but the fact of the matter is within this idustry you can never ever confuse what you can make with what you can sell.

P-series only accounts for 6 percent of SE sales quit frankly their few who appreciate top end comms device and can afford it. The moneys made with the K-series even S-series only started doing well with a price drop at £500 hardly any one touched it.

You boys with P800's not sure on what to upgrade to it's simple get a P910.

I booted up my old P800 the other day and l cant belive how bad and uncomfortble it looked.

You mention MP3 and calander is important to you well get a p910 with aqua calander and ogg player and a 1gb Duo card your going to be very, very happy you'll be amazed at the differance. Throw on Smart Movie learn how to encode properly youd ejaculate on the spot.

On a personal note where all mature smart individuals with no charecter quotas governing our posts so please dont say dat and ders their not proper words.

well said VX.. 1 gig of duo is enough to spray my cements all over the place.. but i still think they shud lower the price & placo it in the S700 range & have the S-series discontinued OR upgrade S700 system to match a P800. call it a S750 or sumtin. if they expect to kick nokeyas ass they shud lower their smartphones prices fgodsake.. those blasted nokeyas plans to juice up they mid-low phones with symbianS60!! this means there will be more cheap S60s in the market. not very long they will have low end ones geared up with S60s.. CMON SE.. wake up !!
