I tried a different converter and encoded a few films in xvid and 3ivx but when i put it on the phone i was unable to get sound... I wasn't aware you were able to convert films to work in smartmovie in any other program than the smartmovie converter. But now i know i will give it another go and see what happens.

if you put the avi file into a video folder on ur memory stick it will copy fine. hey im downloading that dvd studio program, sounds pretty good and you can convert from dvd. nice

yea you can use other programs, i mostly use the smartmovie converter with divx codec.
ive tried using virtualdub but cant get good results, all i get is slugish playback.
