Although touchscreens are really cool.
I think it would be a good idea to expand the market with some budget phones without touchscreens.
And they should produce more smartphones...
But still keep the higly sophisticated p.d.a. style phones in development.

Personally I think should make a non-touchscreen UIQ phone with a cheapish price tag and a flag ship touch schreen uiq, replacement for P910i, with a premium price tag. Not everybody wants a P910i but a lot of people want something more than the K750i.

@ mario
What on earth are u talking about!?
Nokia Series40 phones are NOT Symbian smartphones so how on earth can they be anothe third of smartphone sales?!
And SE have made smartphones for longer than since last year! The P910 was released last year, the P900 a year before that and the P800 a year before that!!!

yeah - didn't the p800 come out around the same time as that slide-brick nokia. you know - the first one with the camera. wasn't that the nokia's first symbian phone?

Huh buddies ,I hope you are right but just keep in mind,as you read this Nokia already has a huge smartphone base out there.Actually 1 in 3 smartphones sold is a Nokia S60 with another third been S40 . Se only developed smartphones last year and the p910i was the last one to be released.Yes by now they have finally realized their mistake for not developing a keypad smartcell, but I think is too late

As MikLSP said the series 40 isnt a smartphone by any stretch of the imagination. actually developed the smartphone over two years ago with the P800 which wasnt released that long after the Nokia 7650 and was a lot better!

its something that SE really needs to do, but they don't need to make it series 60. cause its awfull! they are smart enough to make a new UI themselves.

That is what I was thinking. I mean theres loads of S60 Nokias on the market that offer Symbian applications but all S.E have to offer is a PDA version but nothing with a keypad. I'll be honest, I bought a P800 when it first came out but I took it back for a refund because I couldnt get along with the touchscreen. I mean it doesnt suit everyone. I do think Sony Ericsson should bring out a non touchscreen Smartphone. Benq do a UIQ one dont they with a keypad. This message was posted from a K700i
