I'm not really an expert on this so feel free to correct me.
I think range is not necessarily a feature of BT 1.2, range depends on the transmitting BT device. Even BT 1.1 could have been made with a longer than 100m range by simply increasing the power of the transmitter but the problem now is the interference and BT 1.1 is not very well equipped to handle discrepancies in the signal. Apart from the increased speed, BT 1.2 can easily adapt to certain levels of interference which makes it useful even in a longer range.

I think It's 1.1 on K700. I don't think manufacturers have come up with on phones that don't have wi-fi.
